Our Mission

Established in 1996, SEDA aims to uplift disadvantaged communities in Bangladesh. By organizing rural and urban populations living in poverty, we work tirelessly to improve livelihoods and disseminate vital development information.

Founded by a group of like-minded patrons and volunteers, our organization plays a direct role in solving community problems and bringing sustainable change to lifestyles.

Our Philosophy

“The paramount need of men, women, adolescents, and children—both urban and rural—is not relief, but release from the prison of poverty.”

Our focus remains on the landless, the disabled, and the economically marginalized, specifically empowering women through education, training, and active participation.

Goal

The goal of SEDA is to improve the socio economic status of the disadvantaged people. To promote the socio economic status of under privileged men, women, adolescent, children including disabled persons both urban and rural through motivation, peoples manpower, water and soil. To achieve the aims of SEDA focuses on two fundamental inter-related objectives, which are alleviation of poverty and empowerment to powerless people.

Mission

Positive change of life of the community, emergency response, person with disability, poor fisher folk, tea garden people, vulnerable women’s, out of education children, ethnic minority, dalit groups, rural poor and the people of hawor dominated area. SEDA is committed to mainstreaming the backward community through mobilizing the people for taking steps against superstitions, social justice, discrimination, corruption and abuse to ensure basic human rights and increase accessibility to the public resources, besides develop skill working team and working strategy. SEDA desire to make the organization financially and structurally strong ensuring optimum utilization of public and local resources as well as collecting resources from internal and external sources. SEDA is committed to ensure peoples participation, develop participatory decision and gender equality, making process and implementation for the environment friendly socio economic development of the targeted people, improving quality of work and mobilize peoples support for reaching the goal are the mission of SEDA.

Criteria and Area of Target People

Criteria for Target Populations

Focusing on the economically poor and socially depressed communities.

Land Ownership: Owns minimum cultivable land (less than one acre).
Occupation: Engaged in informal labor (Daily labor, domestic help, transport workers, etc.).
Economic Status: No source of moderate/steady income (Salary, big business, or remittances).
Age Criteria: Primary focus on individuals aged between 14 to 50 years.
Residency: Continuous village residency (does not live outside the village for 3+ months).
Social Safety: Sufferers of domestic violence, harassment, or those in need of legal aid.
