Organizational Overview
Nonprofit development organization established in 1996 with an aim to promoting human and socio-economic development for the disadvantaged community people in Bangladesh. To achieve the aim, SEDA undertake and organize rural and urban disadvantaged people who are living in poverty to improve their livelihood. This organization initiated by some likeminded development patrons, for the uplift meant of the socio-economic condition of rural and urban communities as well as dissemination of information about development. We feels that the community peoples need support to release from poverty level through undertaking different issues. We founded this organization with along some volunteer friends to role play directly for solve the problems of community and bring some change in their lifestyle.
SEDA has approved bi-laws to regulate and maintain all sorts of activities. It has a general body, which is mainly responsible to the government as well as the development partner and beneficiaries. There is an Executive Committee accountable to the general body, Chairman of the organization is responsible for design, implement and handle all the income and expenditure related works. He is accountable to Executive Committee and he has to ensure all the necessary to the target groups for his activities too.
The philosophy of SEDA is based on the conviction the paramount need of the men, women, adolescent, children and disabled persons both urban and rural is not relief but release from the prison of poverty. Its main focus is to promote the socio economic conditions of the disadvantaged, out of education, disabled; landless and economically marginalized people especially women through organization, education, training, information, participation and joint activities.
Goal
The goal of SEDA is to improve the socio economic status of the disadvantaged people. To promote the socio economic status of under privileged men, women, adolescent, children including disabled persons both urban and rural through motivation, peoples manpower, water and soil. To achieve the aims of SEDA focuses on two fundamental inter-related objectives, which are alleviation of poverty and empowerment to powerless people.

An environment friendly, biodiversity, rich, enlighten, discrimination free secular democratic and just society where people of different ages gender, religion, caste and communities will enjoy their human rights equally.
Mission
Positive change of life of the community, emergency response, person with disability, poor fisher folk, tea garden people, vulnerable women’s, out of education children, ethnic minority, dalit groups, rural poor and the people of hawor dominated area. SEDA is committed to mainstreaming the backward community through mobilizing the people for taking steps against superstitions, social justice, discrimination, corruption and abuse to ensure basic human rights and increase accessibility to the public resources, besides develop skill working team and working strategy. SEDA desire to make the organization financially and structurally strong ensuring optimum utilization of public and local resources as well as collecting resources from internal and external sources. SEDA is committed to ensure peoples participation, develop participatory decision and gender equality, making process and implementation for the environment friendly socio economic development of the targeted people, improving quality of work and mobilize peoples support for reaching the goal are the mission of SEDA.

Criteria and Area of Target People
Target populations of SEDA activities are economically poor and socially depressed people, SEDA considers those people who fulfill the following criteria:
- Who owns minimum cultivable land (less than one acre)
- Who is engaged in “less prestigious job” (Such as daily labor, maidservant, sex workers, transport workers, street children etc.
- Who has no source of moderate income (Such as salary, remittance, big business etc.
- Whose age ranges from 14 to 50 years.
- Who does not live outside the village continuously 3 months.
- Whose are sufferer from domestic violence, sexual harassment and need legal aid support.
