1. Background

Access to basic educational materials remains a significant challenge for children living in remote coastal and char (riverine) areas of Bangladesh. Many students from low-income families are unable to continue their education due to a lack of essential learning supplies.

To address this issue, the Education Materials Distribution Project was implemented to support disadvantaged students and promote inclusive education.

2. Objectives

The main objectives of the project were:

To provide essential educational materials to underprivileged students

To increase school attendance and participation

To reduce the financial burden on poor families

To promote equal access to education in vulnerable areas

3. Project Locations

The project was implemented in the following areas:

Coastal Satkhira (Sundarbans-adjacent areas) – O A Ka Kha School

Char areas of Sirajganj District

Savar region schools

4. Key Activities

The project carried out the following activities:

Identification of beneficiary students from disadvantaged communities

Procurement of educational materials

Distribution of materials among selected schools and students

Coordination with school authorities and local stakeholders

5. Materials Distributed

The following educational items were distributed:

Notebooks

Pens and pencils

School bags

Other essential learning materials

6. Beneficiaries

Students from underprivileged families in coastal, char, and semi-urban areas directly benefited from this project. The intervention particularly focused on ensuring access for children who are at risk of dropping out of school.

7. Project Outcomes and Impact

The project achieved the following outcomes:

Improved access to basic educational materials

Increased student motivation and school attendance

Reduced financial pressure on low-income families

Enhanced learning environment for disadvantaged students

8. Financial Overview

Total Budget: BDT 850,000

Funds were utilized for procurement, logistics, and distribution of educational materials in targeted areas.

9. Conclusion

The Education Materials Distribution Project was successfully implemented with the generous support of Care and Shine Foundation. The initiative played a vital role in supporting vulnerable students and ensuring continuity in their education.

This project demonstrates that targeted, small-scale interventions can create meaningful impacts in improving access to education in underserved communities.
