Katerina Karefyllaki Visit to Our Sundarbans Branch School

We were truly honoured to welcome Miss Katerina Karefyllaki, a philanthropist from Greece, to one of our school branches located in the southern part of Bangladesh.

Our organisation currently operates four education branches, working to provide learning opportunities for children from vulnerable communities. This particular school is uniquely situated beside the Sundarbans, the world’s largest mangrove forest an area of remarkable natural beauty where access to quality education remains limited.

Miss Katerina’s visit brought great joy and inspiration to our students. They warmly welcomed her and enthusiastically engaged in conversations and activities, creating a meaningful exchange for both the students and our team. Her interaction with learners and educators highlighted the importance of compassion, cultural connection, and global solidarity in education.

We are deeply grateful to Miss Katerina Karefyllaki for taking the time to visit our Sundarbans branch school and for her kindness and support. Her presence was truly encouraging and left a lasting positive impact on everyone involved.

Medical support for people affected by Cyclone Remal

Satkhira and Khulna are the southernmost districts of southwest Bangladesh. Geographically, the Sundarbans is bordered by two rivers in the south, and in the west, it is adjacent to the Koikhali Union of Shyamnagar Upazila in Satkhira district. Another upazila in the area is Koyra, with the Sundarbans on both sides.

This revision clarifies the geography and relationships between the locations mentioned.

Koikhali Union and Bedkashi Union of Koira were damaged by Cyclone Remal, which recently hit Bangladesh. Health problems have also emerged alongside visible damage. The people of these two unions have to travel about thirty kilometers from the upazila town to access medical services.

Low-income people find it difficult to travel far to see a doctor or buy medicine. Thousands of patients received medical care and free medicines at a day-long medical camp held in Shoilkhali, Koikhali, and on October 5 in North Bedkashi, Koyra. The camp was conducted by 16 doctors under the implementation of the Socio-Economic Development Alliance (SEDA), funded by Abundance of Good Inc. USA.
